HeartSupport accomplishes more than 80% of its mental health support goals for the fourth quarter of 2024
Every quarter, HeartSupport sets goals as an organization to ensure that we are moving towards fulfilling our mission of providing quality, peer-driven mental health support. For the last three months of 2024, we were committed to finishing 2024 off with a bang.
The year was overall the most significant and impactful in the organization’s history. As we closed out 2024, we achieved 84% of our goals for the final quarter. 4% of the remaining goals have been carried over into 2025.
Here are some of the key wins that HeartSupport saw in October, November, and December 2024.
Fundraising: Giving Tuesday and a rebrand
The last quarter of the year is incredibly significant for nonprofits, between Giving Tuesday (a global giving day that happens the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) and end-of-year giving. This year, we spent those months telling stories about incredible donors who have been committed to healing the scene for a long time. We also invited you to join us in supporting this life-saving work.
The result was over $40,000 in donations from individuals, companies, and streamers. This impact will translate to real lives changed through mentorship and support.
Simultaneously, you might have noticed that things looked a little different on our pages. We were launching a rebranded website and social media presence. The new look is fully aligned with our values as an organization, and we could not be happier to have an introduction to new community members that feels clear and inviting.
Leadership: Planning ahead
As HeartSupport’s momentum continues to grow, the reality is that we are in this for the marathon, not just the wild sprint we’ve been running. Our leadership spent time outlining a detailed, strategic 5-year plan to keep moving us into deeper impact in years ahead, fleshing out this organization’s potential.
The HeartSupport board was an invaluable part of this process, greenlighting this long-game vision.
Outreach: Record reach
When we started the quarter, our hope was to have at least 5 YouTube shorts pass 50,000 views. We blew that out of the water!
Beyond those shorts views, more and more Therapist Reacts videos have passed the 100,000 views mark. Cumulatively, this means that our channel surged past 2 million views total. That’s 2 million people who have been exposed to the message of hope for mental health as found in alternative music.
As the community around this content continues to grow, we want to grow too. The success of our videos in 2024 gave us a compass for determining how to move ahead in 2025. Look for more varied and diverse content coming to our channel soon!
Programs: Meeting you where you are
These months saw a big shift in our approach to outreach: we’re going directly to where people already spend their time. With this goal in mind, we shuttered the historic HeartSupport forum. Instead, peer support is provided by trained volunteer repliers directly on social media post comments. Now, anyone who comments on any one of our pieces of content can get support, rather than requiring them to take the extra step of going to the forum. You can already see this in action on comment threads!
As our volunteer team continues to grow, we’ve also developed new ways to recognize their priceless contributions. We have a series of milestones now at which volunteers can receive recognition for their life-saving encouragement. The old forum structure also lives on privately as a way to coordinate volunteers (remember: we always welcome more!).
Tech: Keeping it connected
The reality is that all of our online resourcing takes quite a lot of technology support. Fortunately, our team delivered on creative tech solutions to keep fueling our forward progress!
Throughout the successful Giving Tuesday campaign, donor information was being integrated into a secure CRM database (Customer Relationship Management). This will allow us to stay in touch with supporters and make sure we can easily answer any questions they have about their donations down the road.
With the forum entering its volunteer era, our tech team also integrated Discord to create a seamless experience for our incredible repliers.
To everyone who made 2024’s final quarter a success: thank you. We could not do this without the way each and every one of you continues to work to heal the scene!
