Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
Does it mean that we, as followers of Christ, should help others with a pure and undefiled heart? And to keep oneself clear from the ways of the world?
What is a religion that is pure and undefiled before God?
Religion: the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
So for us to have a pure and undefiled religion before God is for us to go serve the sick, broken and hurting in their time of need, without being influenced by the world. It’s us taking our faith and practicing our faith in the world without being of the world.
Again, we are seeing God telling us to love people. I see God telling us He wants us to love Him and be faithful to Him, while showing others the love He has for His people. How do we do this?
Go out, comfort and help those in their time of need, and keep yourself clean from the worldly influences.
